Miscellaneous Events 2009 This page features events that were not large, are no less notable.
Cruiser Club Christmas Party 2009 On Sunday December 13 we held our Christmas party. Barb and Ron graciously opened their home to us. Check out Ron's decorations, something he does every year. We also had two guests. We have been communicating with a PT Cruiser club in Australia for some months and two of their members were able to make room in their schedule to visit us.
Tom's Turkey Drive 2009 On Saturday November 21, we participated in Tom's Turkey Drive. This is an annual event featuring Tom Sherry of KREM2 television in cooperation with Rosaurer's supermarkets and the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. People can donate food or money, but the main thrust is for them to purchase prepared bags of contents needed for a turkey dinner and hand the bags over to the on-site collectors. When all the purchased bags are later back at the warehouse the turkeys are added and everything is then distributed to needy families in time for Thanksgiving. Part of the cost of the food bags is underwritten by various donors resulting in a food bag only costing the buyer $15. Our club did a four hour session soliciting people to buy food bags and "stuff the Cruiser." Our members contributed 57 bags equaling $855. We also had a short spot on KREM2 television. The weather smiled on us once again as we had a sunny, but cold day. The next day it snowed.
Fall Leaves Cruise 2009 On Saturday October 24, we cruised up the Coeur d'Alene River and over the pass to Wallace ID. After a rest stop we proceeded over Lookout Pass to the Lincoln Silver Dollar Bar at Haugen MT for lunch. We were very lucky with the weather as it was a lovely sunny day, after pouring rain the day before. Along the entire cruise, we conducted a visual scavenger hunt wherein the folks picked out and identified scenes and objects that had been previously photographed and reproduced on handouts along with clues. We had 15 cars and about 25 people. All the attendees seemed to have a good time.
Arbor Crest 2009 On Sunday September 13, we went to one of the Sunday evening concerts at Arbor Crest. They are held at the old Ribblet mansion high above the Spokane Valley. One bring their own chairs and food, and buy wine on-site if you like. They have a different musical group every week. A very enjoyable summer evening.
Long Lake Party 2009 On Saturday September 19, members Richard and Joan hosted an omelet party at their Long Lake home. The task was to fill your bag with your chosen omelet ingredients and then the bags were boiled until your omelet was cooked. It was a novel way to make them and a lot of fun.

Silver Mountain Trip 2009 On Saturday August 1, members cruised to Silver Mountain in Kellogg ID. We had lunch, had a private tour of the waterpark including behind the scenes equipment, and then rode the Gondola to the mountain top. This event had been postponed from May, due to too much snow on the mountain. With our meticulous planning skills we chose the hottest day of the year, to date, for this event, with the temperatures in the very high 90's in Kellogg. It was about 10 degrees cooler on the mountain which was appreciated by all. Temperatures notwithstanding, it was a fun event.

Thirteen Cruisers participated with great decorations and lots of candy for the children on the parade route. After the parade we had lunch and enjoyed the booths in the park and then Sue Enzler took eight cars on a short cruise over the mountain and through the fields to Plummer ID, and then on home. It was great celebrating the Red, white, and Blue.

We had 50's music courtesy of one of our members who is a DJ. We had some 1950's trivia quiz questions and prizes were awarded for the most correct answers. Mostly we ate dinner and had fun.
